Speech Pathology

At Insight Speech, we provide specialist speech pathology services for tweens, teens, and adults who experience challenges with communication, cognition (thinking skills), social connection, and executive functioning.

We work with people who are neurodivergent, recovering from or living with brain injury, or managing degenerative neurological conditions. Our focus is always on real-world, meaningful change—supporting people to participate more fully in life, including study, work, relationships, friendships, family life, and leisure.

Our work is grounded in a neuroaffirming, person-centred approach. We welcome all sexualities, genders, pronouns, identities, and cultures, and aim to create spaces where people feel safe, understood, and respected.

What we support

We provide support across a wide range of communication, cognitive, and functional needs, including:

  • Social communication and pragmatic language
  • Cognitive-communication skills (thinking skills that support understanding, reasoning, problem-solving, memory, and decision-making)
  • Executive functioning (planning, organisation, emotional regulation, follow-through)
  • Functional communication in daily life
  • Communication and cognitive changes following brain injury
  • Degenerative neurological conditions
  • Complex communication profiles where mental health, trauma, behaviours of concern, or alcohol and other drug use may also be present

We also offer comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, and pragmatic assessments, including assessment and consultation when there are questions about autism or broader communication differences.

Our approach

We don’t just focus on therapy sessions—we focus on how communication and thinking skills show up in everyday life.

We support clients through:

  • Direct speech pathology intervention
  • Functional, goal-driven therapy embedded in real-life contexts
  • Collaboration with families, support teams, educators, and workplaces
  • Parent and caregiver coaching to build confidence, reduce stress, and strengthen everyday communication support at home
  • Consultation for complex cases, working alongside other professionals to develop shared understanding, consistent strategies, and practical pathways forward

Our parent coaching and consultation approach is particularly valuable when communication and cognitive needs are interconnected with behaviour, mental health, trauma, or complex support environments.

Where we work

We provide services across North East Victoria and the Border region, including Beechworth, Wangaratta, Albury/Wodonga, Benalla, and Yarrawonga.

We typically see clients in their homes and community settings, where communication naturally occurs. We can also attend schools in some cases. Clinic appointments are available in Wangaratta and Albury, which can often allow for shorter wait times.

We also provide brain injury rehabilitation with a highly skilled clinician Australia-wide via telehealth. When clinicians have a deep understanding of the nuances of brain injury, cognition, and communication change, it can make a meaningful difference to real-life outcomes.

We support a range of funding pathways, including:

  • NDIS (plan-managed and self-managed clients only — we are not NDIS registered)
